PAY: $200 - $260/week

PROGRAM OVERVIEW:

• Program: Camp K is an ACA Accredited Summer Residential Youth Co-ed Camp
• Location: Camp K is located in Copper Landing, AK on the Kenai Lake.
• Dates: All Staff training begins in mid-May. Camp opens to youth in early June and runs through early August.   
• Shifts: Camp K staff reside on camp premises during all camp sessions.
• Activities: While at Camp K youth are provided hiking, boating activities, outdoor games, art building, target sports, outdoor living skills and team building; as well as horseback riding and river raft trips in nearby areas. 

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Camp K Counselor will be responsible for the minute-to-minute supervision and guidance of a cabin group of campers, working with other counselors and specialists to facilitate a variety of age appropriate activities ensuring a high-quality camping experience for program participants, parents, and visitors. They will need to communicate effectively with camp leadership to identify camp needs, maintain positive relationships with all camp participants (employees, campers, families, etc.), uphold high standards of health/safety especially pertaining to COVID-19, and promote/instruct all emergency procedures for a variety of different emergencies (fire, weather, missing person, wildlife encounters, etc.). The Camp K Counselor resides on the premises of Camp K in the Chugach National Forrest (with everyday opportunities to be off the grid, experience wildlife, and take in the epic beauty right outside your cabin door) and work with other camp counselors to support an assigned group of cabins for weekly sessions during the summer season and engage in work that supports Camp Fire’s Promise to provide youth with the opportunity to find their spark, lift their voice and discover who they are.

 QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Must be eighteen (18) years of age, is required to maintain compliance with regulatory and accrediting
• Prior experience working with youth is required, preferably in a residential camp
• Current Wilderness First Aid Certification from Nationally recognized provider, required.
• Current Adult/Pediatric CPR, AED & First Aid Certification from a nationally recognized provider, required.
• Experience working with diverse populations: multi-cultural, age, gender, ; experience with special needs population preferred.
• Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19
