Newborn Hospitalist opportunity in Roanoke, VA
Pediatrix Medical Group has an immediate opportunity for a newborn hospitalist to join our neonatology practice at Carilion Clinic Children’s Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia.
- As one of our hospitalists, you will have primary responsibility for unassigned infants in the newborn nursery and NAS patients admitted to the 5-bed NEST and provide consultation to families and referring physicians.
- You will be the key clinician responsible for teaching medical students, pediatric and family practice residents and PA students who rotate through the unit.
- The average daily census is 10 newborns with 1,400 admissions a year.
- Enjoy an 8 hour, in-house schedule Monday-Friday with a neonatologist covering the newborn nursery on nights and weekends.
- No call from home, allowing for a satisfying work/life balance.

- Carilion Children’s offers the region's only children’s hospital with a skilled staff of more than 350 medical professionals specifically trained in caring for infants and children to deliver top-notch care to every child and family.
- Their full-service 92-bed “hospital within a hospital” at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital includes a regional Level-IIIB Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) for 60 newborns, a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and an inpatient unit designed specifically for children.
- Carilion Children’s Hospital is western Virginia's only Pediatric Level-I trauma center with advanced medical transport units and an emergency department devoted to acutely ill or injured children.
Roanoke, Virginia is located midway between New York, NY and Atlanta, GA and is 168 miles west of the state capital of Richmond, Virginia.
