A global Fortune 500 company has engaged Pye Legal Group to assist with its search for an exceptional trade attorney experienced with import and customs compliance and trade sanctions. Will provide compliance support to domestic and international stakeholders on all aspects of export and import controls, free trade agreements, and conflicts of interest. Duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Providing legal advice on daily trade compliance program activities
  • Providing counsel on imports and Customs compliance including Free Trade Agreements, participation in duty drawback programs, management of Free Trade Zones, and assisting with oversight of freight forwarder/customs broker activities
  • Lead a team of import professionals and assist regional compliance personnel
  • Analyze and resolve trade compliance matters with a focus on import and export controls and risk mitigation
  • Provide global training related to import/export controls and trade sanctions compliance
  • Serve as primary counsel for internal trade compliance network and assess compliance gaps
  • Significant legal experience and expertise in global customs and import laws and regulations including knowledge of FTZ, FTA, and classification for import/export
  • Strong knowledge of Import and Customs Regulations
  • Direct experience advising on import and Customs laws/regulations
  • J.D. from an accredited law school and current active admission in a US State Bar Association
  • Minimum of 5 years of compliance experience as a practicing attorney with a law firm and/or corporate legal department.
  • Experience providing legal advice on sophisticated compliance matters to a global organization
  • High integrity with superb verbal and written communication and inter-personal skills.
