Description

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Our laboratory, which studies therapeutic and diagnostic biomaterials, is looking for a responsible, hands-on, and enthusiastic individual to join the lab as a Research Assistant. Working under the general supervision of Principal Investigators, and in accordance with established hospital policies and procedures this individual will conduct a variety of routine experiments where methodologies are clearly established and calculate, transcribe, and analyze data using basic statistics. May perform literature searches under supervision.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under general supervision, performs a variety of routine tests following established methodologies including those used for biochemistry (ELISA, Luminex, histology), device and material fabrication (3D printing, laser cutting, soft lithography), and ex vivo and animal studies.
  • Record data, summarize, and analyze results using basic statistics.
  • Prepares laboratory reagents, chemicals, instruments, and equipment.
  • Maintains supplies inventory in accordance with departmental procedures.
  • Discusses progress of work regularly with supervisor.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

BA/BS in Life Sciences, Materials Science, or Physical Sciences

SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

  • Technical skills related to the duties above
  • Good organizational skills, detail oriented
  • Sound degree of computer literacy
  • Ability to methodically record data and to analyze data using basic statistics
  • Ability to perform a variety of routine tests and prioritize work
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to demonstrate professionalism
