Site Safety Coordinator

Lydig Construction, Inc. is seeking a qualified candidate to fulfill the duties and obligations of Site Safety Coordinator for an upcoming project located in Seattle, Washington. This position will report directly to the Vice President of Health, Safety & Environmental. Working in close coordination with our project team and client representatives, this position will be responsible for the delivery of a safe and healthful work environment through application of best management practices, staff training, work activity monitoring, and utilization of processes such as Job Hazard Analysis and/or Daily Pre-Task Hazard Analysis.

Essential Job Duties:

• Evaluates and ensures subcontractor compliance with company, federal, state and local safety regulations
• Reviews and approves subcontractor safety programs, material safety data sheets, and site specific safety requirements prior to commencing work
• Provides assistance/advice to staff as necessary
• Conducts on-site safety inspections
• Conducts employee training
• Conducts job-site specific worker orientations
• Assists in incident and near-miss investigations
• Provides safety requirements to subcontractors at pre-bid and pre-construction services
• Keeps safety logs and records and archives accordingly
• Assists in the overall implementation of the company's safety program
• Mentors staff as necessary
• Provides exemplary customer service
• Continually keeps principals and management informed of significant issues related to areas or responsibility

Experience:A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a construction related safety position is required. Higher level education may substitute for experience. Drafting and implementing policies and procedures.

Skills:Must be able to establish rapport and maintain effective communications with staff, subcontractors, and suppliers. Must be able to proactively determine solutions to problems in areas of responsibility. Must have good organizational and time management skills. Must be able to speak publicly, design and conduct training as necessary. Must be able to use applicable computer software. You must be able to review all aspects of Hazard Analysis and have the knowledge to make corrections. Be familiar with WISHA 296-155 and OSHA 1926 regulations.

Physical Abilities:Must be able to operate a computer and other standard office machines. Vision must be adequate to evaluate working conditions and read documents. Must be able to visit active construction sites and walk on uneven ground. Must be able to climb ladders/stairs and stand for several hours at a time. Must be able to occasionally lift and carry up to 50lbs. Must be able to conduct training sessions in varied environments.

Certifications:A current driver's license and an acceptable driving record as defined by our insurance company. First Aid certification required.

Background Checks:To access to some job sites you must be able to pass a Criminal Background check. A credit check may also be required.

Travel:Occasional travel between job sites

The salary range for this position is between $85,000 and $120,000 per annum, based on experience and qualifications.
