Responsibilities

Alta Equipment Company is seeking a full-time IT Systems Engineer at our Livonia, MI corporate headquarters.

This is a senior staff position within the IT Infrastructure Team, the candidate will be responsible for championing the development and implementation of technology-based solutions within the infrastructure team. The position will be required to troubleshoot effectively and solve technical issues within the environment.

• Work with the infrastructure team to design and implement projects in the areas below while considering risks and potential impact.

  • Data Backup and Disaster recovery
  • Cloud Infrastructure
  • Networking
• Manage Systems availability, performance, and uptime.
• Assist in creating policies and procedures to minimize and avoid unnecessary downtime.
• Manage and schedule changes and updates.
• Proactively assess infrastructure.
• Make recommendations to business regarding information technology leveraging innovative technology to improve business and productivity based on current user base and future growth.
• Monitor and maintain business infrastructure in its entirety including but not limited to systems backups, disaster recovery, cloud infrastructure, software licensing and compliance.
• Keep all IT policies, procedures, documentation, and change requests records up to date.
• Support level 2 staff.

Qualifications

 Skill Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience
• Five or more years’ experience as an IT engineer working as part of a technical team
• Cloud Infrastructure experience, preferably in Microsoft 365 & Azure
• Experience with virtualization VMWare
• Knowledge of Druva Hybrid Workloads and DRaaS (Disaster Recovery as a Service)
• Networking knowledge (OSI network layers, TCP/IP)
• Windows Server Administration Experience
• Database Management SQL
• Exceptional communication and customer service skills
• Creative problem solver with analytical skills with the ability to work independently
• Excellent time management with the ability to multitask
• Organized and detail oriented
• Computer programs – Microsoft 365, Azure, Windows Server, Windows 10, PowerShell,
• Language Skills - High: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
• Mathematical Skills – Intermediate.
• Reasoning Ability - High - Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

• Physical/Sensory Functions: Regularly will use hands, sit, talk/hear; Occasionally will stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
• Vision: Close vision, ability to adjust focus.
• Lift and/or Move Functions: Occasionally will lift 25 pounds
• Work Environment: Occasionally will work near moving mechanical parts
