Senior Chemical Process Engineer

Location: Princeton, NJ

Scientific Search client a dynamic/growing Medical Device company specializing in blood purification using porous polymer technology, has an immediate need for a Senior Chemical Process Engineer to support daily and long-term production goals.

Experience in one or more of the following areas is required:

• Chemical batch processing
• Suspension polymerization
• API (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient) reactions
• Operations involving chemical reactors

Responsibilities:

• Member of Process Engineering team in support of daily and long-term production goals, primarily supporting our proprietary suspension polymerization process.
• Develop, specify, and validate manufacturing processes and equipment to achieve cost, quality, and capacity goals.
• Manage chemical/mechanical or electrical/mechanical process scale up projects.
• Write and execute validation (IQ/OQ/PQ) protocols of new or revised equipment and processes.
• Drives the completion of root cause analysis exercises to understand long term improvement needs to address both equipment efficiency and quality defect reduction.
• Establish metrics to develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods and processes
• Troubleshooting of process equipment. Support preventive maintenance program.
• Lead the process definition, installation and start up on new production lines and equipment upgrades.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering along with 6+ years of applied professional experience working in chemical processing or related field. Master’s degree a plus.
• Experience in one or more of the following areas: chemical batch processing, suspension polymerization, API (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient) reactions, operations involving chemical reactors.
• Experience in a regulated environment, preferably Pharmaceutical or Medical Device manufacturing; understanding of GMP’s & FDA Quality System Regulations.
• Hands-on approach to problem solving and project execution.
• Project Management experience.
• Strong problem solving and communication skills.
• Comprehension of mechanical functions of machinery and processes.
• Working knowledge of O.S.H.A./EPA/DEP laws and regulations within the manufacturing field is a plus.
