We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer responsible for the design, development, and project execution of proprietary, reciprocating pumps and compressors, specialty equipment, and machinery support systems at our headquarters in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

Rotoflow is a full-service turbomachinery OEM - providing a wide-range of new equipment solutions and aftermarket services to our customers globally. For over 75 years, Rotoflow has designed and manufactured both standard and custom-engineered cryogenic and warm gas centrifugal turbomachinery used in market segments such as industrial gases, petrochemicals, and hydrocarbons. Products include compressor loaded turbo-expanders, generator-loaded power recovery expanders, and low-cost dissipative expanders. We offer new equipment designs, rerates, upgrades and repair along with field services, engineering evaluations, reliability, troubleshooting, training, remote diagnostics/data monitoring, shop services, and new equipment replacements for all types of centrifugal and reciprocating equipment. Our customers are served globally through regional service centers supported by both regional and centralized execution teams.
We are seeking aMechanical Design Engineer -Reciprocating Machineryresponsible for the design, development, and project execution of proprietary, reciprocating pumps and compressors, specialty equipment, and machinery support systems at our headquarters in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

Responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Executing mechanical design tasks related to won projects and product development initiatives, support of aftermarket activities and engineering tasks,
- Collaborating with customers to ensure proper design and integration of equipment into the process,
- Performing safety and operability reviews,
- Collaborating with various discipline areas to finalize equipment designs,
- Performing various turbomachinery design analyses including FEA (stress, deflection, and modal), and hand calculations,
- Performing various thermodynamic analyses and calculations, including volumetric and thermal efficiencies, 2 phase equilibrium, and heat loss/gain of the fluid,
- Integrating machinery equipment into overall plant/products,
- Leading or participating in R&D and innovation efforts associated with new technology or product development,
- Selecting components and materials for machinery and systems,
- Checking and approving manufacturing drawings,
- Supporting bid estimate development,
- Developing standardized product deliverables collaborating with Product Owners
- Supporting root cause analyses (RCA) of equipment and field commissioning and start up activities executed by the Aftermarket Team,
- Collaborating with the Business Improvement Team to develop new and standardized design engineering tools and work processes for streamlining projects and product development,
- Driving engineering and material cost reductions and competitiveness across project and product offerings collaborating with stakeholders,
- Challenging norms with alternate solutions rooted in engineering fundamentals,
- Promoting safety and diversity consistent with the philosophies of Rotoflow.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Technical Degree: BSME or related degree, advanced degree and focus on reciprocating pumps and compressors, design for manufacturability, and/or manufacturing processes a plus,
- 5+ years reciprocating machinery design experience,
- 2D CAD and 3D modeling and simulation a plus,
- Basic FEA capabilities for stress, deflection, fatigue,
- Advanced FEA capabilities a plus,
- Design experience with cryogenic fluids a plus,
- Experience performing stress analysis using Roark’s Formulas on mechanical components,
- Experience analyzing fluid flow and pressure drop through valves and pipe,
- Experience performing thermodynamics & heat transfer analysis on piping systems, machinery, and mechanical equipment,
- Experience performing dynamic analysis of mechanical components,
- Knowledge of ASME BPV and Piping codes,
- Project/product management experience a plus,
- Equipment start-up and plant integration a plus,
- Programming skills: VB, C#, C+, Python, Matlab, Fortran or similar languages a plus,
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously,
- Detail-oriented, goal oriented, organized, creative, self-motivated, collaborative and customer focused,
