Position Title:   Substance Use Disorder Program Navigator

Department:     Substance Use Disorder

Reports To:       Substance Use disorder Program Director

Status:                Full-Time, Exempt


Position Summary: The Substance Use Disorder Program Navigator is a team leader that assists Program Director with the implementation of all  modalities and programs  in an out-patient/intensive outpatient drug and alcohol program for all SUD sites within the organization and will be called upon to assist Program Director to coordinate the efforts of the outpatient staff and referring agencies, this position will insure all modalities are meeting all county/state requirements and responsible for meeting all program standards, county and state requirements.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assists Program Director in Coordinating the efforts of all modality’s of the out-patient drug and alcohol program(s)
  • Responsible for overall quality assurance of all modalities
  • Ensures that the goals and objectives of each new program/modality are coordinated on a day-to-day basis and keep Program Director updated
  • Provides Clinic / Department internal reporting
  • Attends all county/state trainings pertaining to each modality as well as any other county provider meetings
  • Insures weekly that each separate program meets fiscal outcome that Program Director will provide programs fiscal for each program/modality billing and insures weekly outcomes are being met and discussed/reported with Program Director
  • Insures standards are being met with new or current modalities
  • Responsible for insuring outreach is being done to meet our goals and objectives
  • Insures new programs have suitable staff to insure compliance
  • Provides trainings, orientation and onboarding for all new staff
  • Assists with screening for resumes for positions needed
  • Assists with new curriculums needed for each modality/program and keep updates.
  • Responsible for new program/modality and implementation for all sites that SUD is located
  • Facilitate, plan, teach, schedule, and lead educational programs/classes conducted on site for program participants and their families.
  • Responsible for written reports and recommendations either to the judicial system or the Department of Children and Family Services.
  • Responsible for documenting the daily progress of clients and for ensuring that their records reflect their daily activities.
  • Insures our DMC certification is current and in good standing
  • Facilitate/teach regular scheduled group sessions conducted at the agency/site.
  • Facilitate individual (one on one) paraprofessional/ family counseling sessions.
  • Responsible for caseload of Clients and ensuring that clients’ needs are addressed either by the Prevention Specialist or with a referral to an entity that will assist client.
  • Attends meetings, trainings or internal/external meeting when requested by Program Director
  • Responsible for Quality Improvement (QI) Efforts for programs and reports/works with Program Director on QI for the separate programs
  • Reports Quality Improvement Efforts
  • Responsible for drug and alcohol testing and insures all tests are meeting program requirements
  • Oversee outreach activities to insure
  • Build relationships within the community to assist in building Clinica's programs
  • Interfacing with the Los Angeles community on the risks and dangers of drug and alcohol
  • Establishing a relationship with other community based organizations, Department of Children and Family Services, parole department, probation department and the judicial system.
  • Liaise with either the Department of Children and Family Services and the judicial system for referrals and to communicate the progress of mutual clients as deemed by contracts.
  • Responsible for developing a client treatment plan and ensuring that the plan is seen through completion.
  • Responsible for writing and delivering of a curriculum approved by the County of Los Angeles.
  • Identify, recommends and/or creates educational materials to be used for the participants of the program. These materials will include both English and Spanish language appropriate materials.
  • Provide written reports of activities to the County of Los Angeles as indicated by the Program Director.
  • Complete other tasks, from time to time be identified and assigned by the Medical Director
  • Observe regulations on time card use and reporting.
  • Maintain attendance per policy Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Observe general Safety/Employee Health policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a current annual health screening.
  • Observe CMOAR Appearance/Dress standards.
  • Maintain the privacy and confidentiality of both client and employee with regard to medical records
  • Treat all patients with respect and dignity and adheres' to the Patient Bill of Rights.
  • Treats all employees with respect and dignity in accordance to non-discriminatory policy and procedure.
  • Treat all employees/clients in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Conducts only work related conversations when clients are waiting for service.
  • Do not discuss other staff members, policies, problems or medical care in public areas of clinic

 

 Qualifications:

  • Certified substance use disorder counselor
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in human services/community based organization programs specifically dealing with alcohol and drug abuse prevention and recovery issues.
  • Must have experience in either coordinating or has worked as a manager or supervisor in the field
  • Must have knowledge and experience working with the Los Angeles County Plan for Alcohol-Related Services.
  • Must demonstrate an understanding of the recovery process, which includes
  • the twelve step program(s).
  • Must have experience with developing a curriculum for group classes to assist with recovery.
  • Must have experience case managing clients in recovery.
  • Must have experience in observed drug testing of clients.
  • Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office 2000 and Excel.
  • Must have experience with SAPC (substance abuse prevention control) billing procedures.
  • Prior responsibility for self-directed work including work in prevention, education, and recovery areas.
  • Must have experience working in the greater Los Angeles community
