About the Position:
This is a unique and exciting opportunity to lead and grow Brooklyn Prospect Charter School’s already highly successful programs. 

The Principal-in-Residence will serve as the right-hand to the Principal of the school. In this role, the Principal-in-Residence is responsible for deeply supporting the building and implementation of the cultural and instructional visions of the school to meet the needs of ambitious academic targets aligned to our Prospects ‘23 vision.

The Principal-in-Residence supports the oversight of the day-to-day activities of the educational program, building their capacity as an instructional leader within the Prospect Schools framework. The Principal-in-Residence, in consultation with the Principal, is responsible for the hiring, training and evaluation of the school’s faculty and staff. It is the expectation that the Principal-in-Residence is able to serve as the school building leader in the Principal’s absence and that s/he would be able to eventually take on the role of Principal in her/his school or at another location after a successful meeting of readiness metrics developed in within the individualized leadership plan.

Job Responsibilities:

• Serve as secondary building leader, helping to create, implement, and evaluate systems and process across instruction, operations, and youth development & school culture
• Contribute toward the development of standard operating procedures in all areas and continue to find new ways to improve quality and efficiency of an individual school site.
• Assist the Principal with other duties, as needed, and provide general support of BPCS’s mission 
• Recruit and evaluate candidates for faculty and staff job openings

• Supervise, evaluate, and provide professional development for specific portfolio of school faculty and staff
• Read, write, and edit school communications, narratives and policies, as instructed by Principal
• Assist faculty in developing expertise in instructional practices
• Provide student discipline as needed and follow through discipline referrals with faculty, parents and students; 
• Collaborate in the creation of building master schedules as well as testing and special event schedules
• Serve on the network instructional leader cohort with other PIRs and standing Principals

About You:

• Must be closely aligned with Brooklyn Prospect’s mission
• A minimum of 5 years of teaching experience is required, with at least 2 years of administrative experience strongly preferred (e.g., as a Department Head, grade level lead, Assistant Principal, or other)
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Significant professional record of setting and meeting ambitious academic results for students
• Demonstrated ability to work with and motivate various kinds of people, both students and adults
• Immensely flexible,  with an orientation to ‘roll up one’s sleeves’
• A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required; master’s degree strongly preferred
