Position Summary:
Incumbent is responsible for operating the telephone switchboard console, overhead paging system, two-way radio, alpha/numeric paging unit, and alarm systems in a fast-paced, complex medical center setting. Incumbent must answer calls in a courteous and timely manner, accurately connect callers to their requested destination, and provide appropriate information and assistance as needed. Incumbent may perform administrative and clerical tasks as needed.

Required Qualifications:
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
Demonstrated experience using MS Office
Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Ability to problem-solve, research for answers, and appropriately respond to questions when they arise
Must be willing to work flexible shifts, including weekends, holidays and overtime as assigned
Knowledge of HIPAA
Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
Ability to appropriately deal with stressful situations and individuals while remaining calm and professional
Ability to effectively communicate in a clear and concise manner
Experience handling high volume of phone calls or Call Center experience
Demonstrated knowledge of proper telephone usage and etiquette
Preferred Qualifications:
Understanding of insurance programs and payors
Understanding of basic medical terminology
Previous hospital operator experience
Previous experience in a customer service position within a healthcare environment
Bilingual skills in English and Spanish and/or Vietnamese
Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
Knowledge of hospital based registration/scheduling system to register patients
