Job Description Summary:

CFA Institute is building a portfolio of high-quality, practitioner-relevant Professional Learning products that will serve the continuing professional development needs of members and practitioners in a fast-changing industry.

The Director, Content Development will be responsible for sourcing and creating high-quality educational content and works collaboratively with other team members to plan and develop new Professional Learning products, particularly online courses. The ideal candidate has experience in combining practice, pedagogy, and appropriate technology to structure learning offerings in investment management that are engaging and effective for adult learners.

The position may be based in London, New York, NY or Charlottesville, VA and reports to the Senior Director, Content Development, Professional Learning. A hybrid work arrangement can be considered.

Job Description:

As a Director, Content Development, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop specific plans for learning offerings on investment management topics that are relevant to a practitioner audience, address ongoing content gaps, and increase member and industry engagement with content.

  • Lead development of learning offering projects in collaboration with other team members that support relevant competencies and provide engaging and effective learning experiences.

  • Develop and sustain a global network of content experts from practice and academia as a means of sourcing and vetting content.

  • Curate and repurpose high-quality, competency-based content from CFA Institute, CFA societies, practice, academia, and third-party providers.

  • Collaborate with and provide on-going guidance and feedback to external content experts for the creation of content for course offerings.

  • Collaborate with instructional designers and content experts to design and develop learning content.

  • Serve in an editorial capacity, which can involve writing or rewriting learning content.

  • Guide the development of formative and summative assessments.

  • Foster strong collaborative relationships with internal and external content creators and partners to convert content into learning objects.

The skills and qualifications for this role are:

  • Prior successful experience as an investment industry practitioner, CFA charterholder required.

  • Strong quantitative background, through graduate level work in finance and investments, proficiency in Python coding highly desirable.

  • Command of a subset of topic areas in the CFA Institute Candidate Body of Knowledge (CBOK) highly desirable.

  • Demonstrated ability and interest in staying relevant with current best practices, developments and innovations within finance and online learning spaces.

  • Excellent writing and editorial skills with a proven ability to communicate in a clear and concise fashion.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including a professional and diplomatic demeanor.

  • Ability to interact confidently with both the practitioner and academic communities.

  • High level of ability to work in a collaborative environment with familiarity with agile methods highly desirable.

  • Flexibility in competently juggling priorities and adjusting to change.

CFA Institute salary ranges will vary by geographical location. This role is being posted nationally/internationally and does not have to be performed in New York City. In compliance with the New York City salary disclosure law, the anticipated base salary for this role in New York City will range between $117,000 and $197,000 . Salaries are determined based on candidate relevant experience and skills, as well as internal equity.
