Orion Academy is seeking a full or part time biological science teacher for the 2023-2024 school year.We are looking for a unique teacher who can teach our academically bright students a challenging science curriculum through structured, well-planned lessons. Applicants for this position should have a good understanding of the 9th-12th grade NGSS. The science teachers at Orion share the responsibility of teaching the many science courses Orion offers. Courses taught by this position include Forensics (9th grade), Biology (10th grade), and Anatomy and Physiology (upper grades). Anatomy and Physiology is taught every-other year, alternating with Botany.Some curriculum for this position will be provided, and what is not provided will be created in conjunction with an Orion Academy administrator and/or veteran teacher. In addition to core classes, all full-time teachers at Orion also have the opportunity to mentor a small group of students in homeroom as well as mentor a unique course called Personal Projects. This course teaches important student skills that are often overlooked in regular programs. Students in Personal Projects learn to organize, plan, and complete a long term, research-based project that culminates in written work and a formal presentation on topics of their choice.Please read through the attached PDF and our website for details.
