Maxar is looking to add an independent, creative & driven Database Engineer to our team in Northern VA. We possess some amazing talent in all other areas of the development stack, & now we need someone to join our team to design, build & manage modern data systems.

Act as the data & database expert within the team & serve as the leader for all things data, data modeling, data schema, etc.

Use the latest techniques & database features to engineering integrated data schemas across multiple applications.

Turn separate siloed data stores into shared & accessible data repositories.

Design, create, & maintain database structures including normalized, de-normalized, NoSQL/document, & data warehouse database topologies.

Minimum requirements:

Must be a US citizen with a current/active TS/SCI clearance, the ability to obtain CI polygraph.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (4 additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree).

2+ years of Data Engineering or DBA experience.

Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL & advanced PostgreSQL features.

Experience with NoSQL/document databases, such as MongoDB, & search engines such as Elasticsearch.

Comfortable working exclusively in a Linux environment.

Able to proactively identify & manage tasks, work through roadblocks & challenges.

Able to work independently & accountable as a team member.

Willing to work at a government facility in Northern Virginia.

Preferred Qualifications

Working experience with Kubernetes and/or OpenShift environments.

Prepare & deploy databases & database systems into production environments.

Perform optimization of databases to increase performance.

Able to lock down databases & ensure optimum database security.

Experience with PKI & certificate-based authentication & authorization schemes, role-based access constructs.

Building search application backends & indexers with Elasticsearch.

CompTIA Security+ or CISSP certification, or the ability to acquire & maintain certification.
