Tool Pusher

The Tool Pusher is a supervisory position responsible for the safe, efficient, reliable, and environmentally compliant operation of assigned drilling rig. Employee’s key job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

01. Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in drilling oil and gas wells in area consisting of one or more well sites.

02. Directs workers to erect (rig up), dismantle (rig down), and move drilling rigs.

03. Directs workers in setting up and operating power units, draw works and other drilling equipment.

04. Plans delivery of drilling tools, fuel, water, and other supplies for use at drill site. Orders type of drilling bits to be used, according to type of strata encountered.

05. Directs workers in mixing mud and circulating mud in borehole. Operates blowout preventers when required.

06. Directs overall preventative maintenance plan for rig equipment.

07. Interacts with operator personnel and third party service hands.

08. Must be able to safely operate a forklift.

09. Supervises driller and must be able to perform the essential supervisory job duties of the driller.

Physical demands required of the supervisory role of the Tool Pusher are primarily light-medium but may vary with the voluntary involvement of the Tool Pusher in assisting the drilling crew when rigging up or rigging down. It is not essential that Tool Pushers be physically able to assist in rigging up and rigging down. However, Tool Pushers who voluntarily choose to assist in rigging up and rigging down must have the physical capacities required of the drilling crew to perform essential functions of the job safely.
